The Teaching Studio at Ars Musica
A space for disciplined growth, joyful discovery, and sacred craft.
At the heart of Ars Musica is a deeply rooted commitment to music education as vocation—a lifelong pursuit grounded in reverence, care, and individual potential. Through a robust and evolving teaching studio, Parker MacIver Hinnenkamp offers private lessons, group instruction, and guest clinician work for students of all ages, skill levels, and learning profiles.
This is not a casual side project. The studio is a structured, professional environment designed to cultivate musical skill and intellectual curiosity while affirming each student’s voice. With a particular focus on piano, organ, improvisation, and sacred music literacy, the Ars Musica teaching studio nurtures both beginners and advanced learners toward confident, expressive musicianship.
Private Lessons: Piano & Organ
Parker teaches students at all levels—young beginners, returning adults, prospective church musicians, and advanced organists preparing for recitals or sacred work. Instruction is tailored to each individual with an emphasis on:
Technique and foundational mechanics
Sight-reading and theory integration
Improvisation and stylistic flexibility
Sacred and classical repertoire
Goal-setting and consistent personal growth
Lessons are currently offered in Duluth, Minnesota, in person at a dedicated studio space. Select virtual instruction is also available by request.
Group Instruction & Choir Residencies
In addition to one-on-one teaching, Parker leads small group intensives and choir-based training workshops, available to schools, churches, and educational communities. These sessions focus on:
Vocal coaching and section leadership
Hymn-based music literacy
Ensemble rehearsal technique
Sacred music history and theology in practice
Building self-sufficient musical leadership within faith communities
Workshops are crafted with both musicians and non-musicians in mind, fostering accessible yet rigorous formation. Short-term residencies or ongoing partnerships are available.
Disability-Inclusive & Neurodiverse-Affirming Instruction
Ars Musica is intentionally structured to serve students with disabilities, neurodivergent learners, and others who may not thrive in conventional lesson environments. Parker has completed advanced coursework in adaptive musicianship and performance health and works closely with families and caregivers to create welcoming, high-quality lesson plans tailored to each student’s needs.
A separate page outlines specific accommodations and philosophies, but all are welcome to inquire—curiosity, effort, and kindness are the only requirements.
Guest Clinician Work & Sacred Music Leadership
Parker is available as a guest clinician, coach, or instructor for schools, community ensembles, and churches. His experience as a conductor, cantor, and educator lends itself to:
Liturgical music training
